HSK Level 5 refers to the fifth level of the Chinese Proficiency Test
Content and Format
· Listening: It takes about 35 minutes and there are a total of 30 questions. The question types are multiple-choice questions, fill-in-the-blank questions, etc. The listening materials cover a wide range of fields such as politics, economy, culture, and science and technology, including dialogues, interviews, lectures, etc. The speaking speed is relatively fast, and there are many professional terms and complex sentence patterns.
· Reading: It takes approximately 50 minutes, with 30 questions in total. There are question types like multiple-choice questions, true or false questions, matching questions, and sequencing questions, etc. The reading materials include articles of various genres and themes, such as academic papers, news reports, literary works, etc. The length and difficulty have increased significantly, requiring candidates to have strong reading comprehension and reasoning abilities.
· Writing: It takes about 40 minutes, with 10 questions in total. Candidates are required to write a short essay of no less than 400 Chinese characters in accordance with the given topics and prompts. This examines candidates' abilities in text organization, logical thinking, and language expression.
Vocabulary Requirements
Students need to master about 2,500 commonly used Chinese characters and 5,000 to 6,000 commonly used words, including a large number of idioms, common sayings, professional terms, etc., such as "qiányí mòhuà" (exert a subtle influence), "cuòzōng fùzá" (intricate and complex), "tōnghuò péngzhàng" (inflation), etc.
Ability Requirements
Students who have passed the HSK Level 5 can communicate relatively fluently in Chinese in various scenarios, including academic discussions, business negotiations, etc. They can understand the content of general programs on radio and television and grasp their main ideas and details. In terms of reading, they can read various Chinese literature materials and grasp their core viewpoints and argumentation logic. In terms of writing, they can write articles with clear structures, rich content, and accurate language, express their own viewpoints and opinions, and possess a high level of comprehensive Chinese language application ability.
